 Spanish

Autumn

During this term we will look at the topic of ‘My Life’, which gives the pupils the opportunity to explore the basics of the Spanish language through speaking about their ages, their personality and what pets they might have at home. These are just amongst a few of the topics. These will be explored through listening, reading, writing and speaking activities to ensure we are supporting the pupil with all 4 key skills.

Spring

During this term we explore ‘Education’. People have the chance to look at school subjects and describe what clubs they take part in at school. They also learn how to tell the time in Spanish. These will be explored through listening, reading, writing and speaking activities to ensure we are supporting the pupil with all 4 key skills.

Summer

During this term we look at the topic of ‘My interests’. Pupils look at anything and everything from sports, to the weather and what activities they might do on the weekend with their friends and family. We end the topic by looking at what a pupil’s routine is and what they like to do to help around the house. These will be explored through listening, reading, writing and speaking activities to ensure we are supporting the pupil with all 4 key skills.

KS3 Year 8

Autumn

In this term we explore the topic ‘Food and Drink’ and we look at the foods from around the Spanish-speaking world, as well as the food and drink that the pupils love to eat. It finally ends in pupils understanding how to reserve a table at a restaurant and making a complaint if they need to. These will be explored through listening, reading, writing and speaking activities to ensure we are supporting the pupil with all 4 key skills.

In this term we will explore the topic ‘My house and City’, where pupils look at describing the area they live in, and what their house is like. They also describe what their dream house would look like. These will be explored through listening, reading, writing and speaking activities to ensure we are supporting the pupil with all 4 key skills.

KS4 Year 9

Spanish

Autumn

We follow the Edxecel Spanish GCSE. Pupils will cover the key points of grammar within their first term to make sure these key basics are solidified before moving onto the key theme content. Once the basics of grammar are there, pupils can progress smoothly through the GCSE.

Spring

Pupils will study technology and holidays. They will explore this through listening, reading, writing and speaking activities. They will be regularly practising exam-based activities and will be tested on their understanding of different vocabulary throughout the term.

Pupils will study healthy living and their personal lives. They will have the opportunity to debate what makes a healthy life as well as a healthy relationship. They will explore this through listening, reading, writing and speaking activities. They will be regularly practising exam-based activities and will be tested on their understanding of different vocabulary throughout the term.

Pupils will start to recap topics learnt in year 9. This term they will focus on technology and holidays. They will explore this through listening, reading, writing and speaking activities. Pupils will continue to spend this year recapping topics from years 9 and 10. During the Autumn term they will recap healthy living and their personal world. They will explore this through listening, reading, writing and speaking activities. They will be regularly practising exam-based activities and will be tested on their understanding of different vocabulary throughout the term.

Pupils will recap the topics of their school and neighbourhood . They will explore this through listening, reading, writing and speaking activities. They will be regularly practising exam-based activities and will be tested on their understanding of different vocabulary throughout the term.

Summer

Pupils are now in exams and will carry out revision up until their exam date.
