Purbrook Park School pupils help Home Start Hampshire with Christmas Hamper Donations

This year pupils from Purbrook Park School have once again shown their support for the Hampshire Home Start charity who support local families in need throughout the year. At Christmas, Home Start run a Christmas Hamper Appeal and the pupils at Purbrook Park School have been instrumental in making this happen!

During PDL (Personal Development Learning) lessons, pupils have been creating hampers for families focusing on the Character Virtue of Community Awareness 'How can we learn to think bigger?'

Each tutor group were given the details of the families that would receive these hampers so that they could purchase bespoke gifts as well as Christmas food, toiletries and games for the family to enjoy on Christmas Day.

Margaret Moane from Home Start, who took over the organisation of the hampers this year said, “Thank you so much to you and the students, so well-organised and kept me on track. They are a credit to the school. The hampers really do make a big impact and all the families were so thankful with a few tears of joy too. Thank you so much, and we look forward to seeing you next year”.

Becky Smith, Lead Practitioner for Pupil Personal Development said, “We are so proud of all the efforts our pupils have made this year and throughout the term exploring Character Virtues that link to the overarching theme of 'Ambition'. We hope that by taking part in this project our pupils have been inspired to think beyond their own circumstances and consider the impact their actions can have on the wider world”.
