The mathematics curriculum provides students with a deep understanding of key concepts while building their confidence in logical and mathematical problem-solving. It develops numeracy skills and literacy skills, ensuring students are prepared for future challenges. Through diverse content, the curriculum emphasises the role of mathematics in the world and nurtures curiosity and creativity.

In Year 7, students are placed into sets (1-7) based on Year 6 SAT results, followed by a baseline assessment to identify gaps. Personalised questions via Sparx Maths help ensure they are in the right group for optimal progress.

Maths lessons are scheduled simultaneously across year groups, allowing seamless set changes without affecting other subjects. Teaching and Learning Assistants (TLAs) support students with special educational needs.

In Key Stage 3, students receive seven maths lessons per fortnight, following a 3-tier Mastery curriculum (support, core, and depth), aligned with the GCSE exams. High-achieving students can move to higher sets, while those needing more support join sets at a slower pace. Progress is monitored to ensure timely interventions.

In Year 9, students begin the GCSE program with eight maths lessons per fortnight. The top four sets follow the higher tier, while other sets follow the foundation tier.

Class sizes in Years 7 and 8 average 28, with smaller numbers in lower sets. In Key Stage 4, class sizes are reduced further, averaging 22 in Years 10 and 11, with extra staff for support.
